Samantha Kutner stands out as a vibrant and influential figure in New York City's performing arts community. With a wealth of experience as both a performer and a distinguished instructor and choreographer, she specializes in belly dance, salsa, and fusion styles.
It started early: her mom used to sneak her into the Bellagio and do her hair for ballet — but it was ballroom she fell in love with.
In college, she discovered the exotic rhythms of belly dance in Las Vegas. In Reno, she mastered salsa 'on two' under the tutelage of Jesús Doza and the D-Project team. Her passion and commitment led her to undergo two years of intense training and performances with the esteemed Empire mambo teams in New York City. Today, in the heart of mambo she continues to refine her craft under the guidance of Charlie Garcia and Scarlett Medrano. Samantha’s hallmark is her versatility, effortlessly merging the richness of cultural traditions with innovative, contemporary flair, all delivered with precise execution. Her performances with Somos Candela and Groovement showcase her love of technically difficult paired with an authentic stage presence.
As a belly dance instructor, Samantha excels at demystifying complex movements, enabling her students to truly embody and express the dance, whether they are learning the basics or enhancing a full performance. Her choreography is uniquely tailored to complement the dancer and the moment, steering clear of one-size-fits-all templates. Samantha is available for stage performances, private events, personalized belly dance instruction, choreography commissions, and collaborative projects with artists aiming to create meaningful and intentional work.
In 2026, she’s channeling that work toward something larger: building an arts nonprofit dedicated to fighting hate through culture and the arts — using performance, instruction, and community as tools for connection and resilience.
